Abstract

A Healthy & Prosper Society can only sustain if there are not any disputes and disagreements prevailing amongst its members. Whereas, a society is comprised of group of people and well-being of each individual is inevitable for a thriving society, therefore, our glorious Islam has made it obligatory upon every individual to take care and protect their lives from all kinds of harms.

If we ponder upon the teachings of Holy Quran, Narrations of our Prophet (PBUH), we can find numerous accounts which strongly emphasis to adhere upon the principle mentioned above.

Whereas, it is repeatedly said in Quran to prevent you from Self-destruction, as Allah says:

"وانفقوافی سبیل اللہ و لاتلقوا بایدیکم الی التہلکۃ و احسنوا ان اللہ یحب المحسنین"

(Spend in the way of Allah and don’t put yourself to destruction).

Forbidding His followers from causing harm to their bodies the Holy Prophet (PBUH) says:

"لایجوز الظلم والخدش و جر الشعر"

(Pulling Hair and wounding oneself is strictly forbidden)

According to Islamic tradition, it is forbidden for oneself to being at a place where there is any possibility of harm, as it is narrated by Amir-ul- Momineen Ali (A.s) that Holy Prophet (PBUH) has forbidden to seep at a place where there is possible threat to life.
