Abstract

The Islamic seminary of Qom is one of the ancient Religious Academic institutions in the Islamic world; which is the result of precedence of Shia school of thought in that city.

According to the historical documentation in the last decade of the first century and the first decades of the second century of Hirja .the Shia Seminary had been established in the city of Qom in Iran. This seminary flourished and reached the peak of its glory and magnificence in the third and fourth century of Hirja; while facing many ups and downs in the course of history.

The existing Islamic seminary of Qom has been founded in 1921 by Sheik Abdul Karim Hairi; after some years of the sad demise of Shiek Hairi, on 1944 Shiek Hussain Brojirdi took over the patronization of that Seminary and gave a new life to that seminary, bringing it equal status to the oldest and reputable Islamic seminary of Najaf in Iraq.

This Seminary has been flourished with the support of the Islamic government since the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran under the leadership of Imam Khomeini in 1979. It has been engaged in providing its intellectual, social and political services under the supervision of the supreme leader of the Islamic revolution.
