Abstract

Renowned Sindhi Sufi mystic and highly venerated poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai deftly weaves Quranic verses into his poetry, imbuing his works with deep spiritual significance. His magnum opus, the Shah Jo Risalo, profoundly engages with the Quran through direct references and thematic parallels. Within his verses, Bhittai highlighted pivotal Islamic concepts seamlessly integrating them into Sindh's cultural and spiritual fabric. Symbolic imagery such as water and journeys, coupled with mystical interpretations of Ishq and Fana, illustrate the depth of his spiritual insight. By invoking Quranic verses, parables, and teachings, Bhittai conveys moral and religious lessons while generating a rich poetic exchange between Islamic scripture and Sufi thought. This study aims to explore the intricate ways Bhittai's poetry resonates with the Quran, offering a profound understanding of his spiritual and literary contributions.
