Abstract

“Muhammad Bin Qasim” is a famous historical novel by Naseem Hijazi which highlights the events and circumstances that led to Muhammad Bin Qasim’s invasion of Sindh in 712. Naseem Hijazi as a prolific writer peeps into the psychological insights of the characters and declares human instincts as a reality. In this novel he presents the feeling of during Muslim who stands at the threshold of death. Conservatism superstition, idolatry and religious bigotry where the orders the day and it needed a fresh change. The noel beautifully discusses these facts along with the parallel events of war. This novel reflects its period as a mirror and shares with its readers the truth of its time. The novel highlights the plight of Muhammad Bin Qasim and suggests that a nation can never survive or retain its glory, if it does not value its heroes. This article analyses these aspects of novel with fresh understanding of historical events.
